Chapter 1: Admission & Orientation Manual
This chapter is comprised of the complete Bureau of Prisons’ Admission & Orientation Manual. This is the exact manual each inmate will receive within the first few days of arrival at his/her designated institution. Each section of the Admissions and Orientation Manual is followed by a personal narrative or version of what this section really means or what really occurs based on the author’s personal experiences and those of other inmates in the Bureau of Prison’s system.Chapter 2: The BOP
This chapter provides the reader with important facts and statistics about the Bureau of Prisons’ system. Inmate and staff demographics are included as well as important definitions, classifications, and security levels of the institutions themselves.Chapter 3: Your Journey to Prison
This chapter actually begins with the inmate’s life before prison and starts with the initial investigation. It continues through the criminal prosecution process culminating with sentencing and the defendants self-surrender or remand into federal custody. It covers everything the defendant needs to know and do prior to entering prison.Chapter 4: Arrival at Prison
This chapter deals with an inmate’s initial arrival at his designated facility. His first encounter with the Bureau of Prisons’ staff is detailed. The Unwritten Rules of Prison Behavior is covered.
